The company has an outstanding safety record and, having a good understanding of HB220, I agree that the bill is good policy which will strengthen and clarify the company’s ability to safely manage waste at the EnergySolutions facility in Utah. I support this legislation. I have worked in the nuclear industry for many years and am currently employed by EnergySolutions. In today’s world, technology is always changing which impacts all businesses. As I read HB220, I applaud EnergySolutions and the bill’s objectives. This legislation appropriately focuses state efforts on continuing to protect human health and the environment by using scientific analysis rather than antiquated tables that were developed decades ago without the benefit of understanding the specific geology, geography, capabilities and safety concerns that are unique to Utah.
